MASERU –– Lesotho’s promising form this year continued yesterday when they held Zimbabwe to a one-all draw in Harare.
Lesotho’s goal hero was once again defender Thabo Masualle who scored his second spot-kick goal in as many games to open the scoring in the first half.
However Likuena could not hold on to the lead and the hosts equalised in the second half to make the score 1-1.
Lesotho took advantage of the fact that this was a FIFA calendar day for international matches. The friendly was seen as good warm-up for the two countries ahead of the COSAFA Senior Challenge which will be played in Zimbabwe in mid-October.
The squad chosen by national coach Zavisa Milosavljevic was the strongest possible with the only absentees being captain Lehlohonolo Seema and the Tunisia-based duo of Moitheri Ntobo and Bokang Mothoana.
The national side had been training in camp at Bambatha for the past two weeks. The squad saw several changes with Teboho Sehloho, Mpho Matsinyane, Mosebo Molefi and Retšelisitsoe Moloisane called up to for national duty.
Zavisa Milosavljevic has been given the mandate to build a team for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers by LEFA. So far this year Likuena have played five games, drawing 0-0 at home to Botswana, twice drawing 1-1 away to Swaziland and suffered a 3-1 loss in Mozambique.
Likuena starting line-up (4-4-2):
Sam Ketsekile – Thabo Masualle, Mpitsa Marai, Nkau Lerotholi, Khoto Sesinyi (captain) – Bushy Moletsane, Molefe Lekoekoe, Moli Lesesa, Thapelo Mokhehle – Retšelisitsoe Moloisane, Sello ‘Muso
