MASERU — With popular joint Litaleng closed, Spring Lights 1307 is trying to turn Khali Hotel into a new chilling spot by hosting a killer bash there tomorrow.
Dubbed “Summer Bunnies Party” the show is all about bringing local youth together to introduce them to the new Hip Hop stable after the closure of Litaleng, said Jerry “DogLander DEE” Malubela speaking to the Weekender on Monday.
“It is through this show that we are trying to break the boundaries between all music categories, creating a cross-genre. We would also like to give Khali Jazz Bar a fresher and more appealing name Chilas, as it is going to be the platform for all musicians.
“In trying to accommodate other genres in the show, I have worked with the likes of DJ Tseko and Da-Phats because we are all dealing with different sounds. We will have Kwaito, Hip Hop and House performed that night,” said DogLander DEE.
The 100 percent-homegrown list of performers is made up of Cblings Unite, Shaffle 44, MIP (Basali Basali crew), Lakzen, Blaze, Da-Phats, Kuna Sounds DJs and DogLander himself.
Speaking about his career, DogLander has been in the game for a long time, contributing positively in the development of most musicians.
These include SAMA-award winner Dunamis on the Streets and Glory album and Famo artiste Morusu who has a Satma award to his name.
In 2010 he released his first single Unite, that featured Famo group Sefako sa Menoaneng, rapper Da Vee and YGB — the unity of different genres as the title says it all.
“Well! I don’t like singing my own praises but I believe my career has become a ‘blueprint’. I have produced Electro, House, Hip Hop and Gospel which were all well received. I have recently worked with T-Mech on an Ecotourism track which is used for environmental campaigns,” he said.
DogLander said he has found his better half; his latest single Love & Happiness is dedicated to the one he loves.
“Love & Happiness which features S-Jizzle was inspired by my lovely wife to be Matšiliso Tšiu with whom I have been through thick and thin. The track proved to be a banger and has received airplay in Nigeria.”
DogLander will be releasing a club House compilation titled Shakers next month.
He said he intends to have a charity show before the end of the year as a Christmas present to orphanages.
