MASERU — A 26-year-old man allegedly strangled his wife to death in Thetsane last Sunday after accusing her of infidelity, police have said.
Police spokesperson Masupha Masupha said the man allegedly killed his 23-year-old wife during a fight.
“The suspect claimed that he found his wife being intimate with another man in her sister’s house,” he said.
The suspected lover is said to have immediately left the house when the man arrived.
The furious husband then had a row with his wife during which he took a shoe lace and strangled her to death, Masupha said.
He said when the police arrived at the scene they found the deceased’s neck still fastened with a shoe lace.
The suspect was arrested and is now in police custody and is expected to appear in court soon.
A neighbour told the Lesotho Times they were shocked to find the woman dead with a shoe-lace around her neck.
“When we went inside the house we were shocked to find the woman lying dead with a shoe lace around her neck,” the neighbour who refused to be identified said.
“We did not hear anything. She did not even scream for help.”
