EVENTS and marketing company EmotivPR will host the second edition of their Good Eats event in Masianokeng on Sunday.
According to EmotivPR chief executive officer Mr Maps, Good Eats is a lifestyle concept based on eating healthy food.
“We will invite a group of young, motivated and like-minded individuals to an easy and chilled environment on the last Sunday of each month,” he told the Weekender on Tuesday.
“While most people enjoy the traditional Shisa Nyama (braai), we want to promote special dishes and encourage the food culture as opposed to just meat and alcohol. The idea is to keep it simple, let the food do the talking and just make sure the atmosphere is incredible through great music, brand association and good company,” Mr Maps said.
He said the event will be held every last Sunday of the month with different dishes based on the seasons.
The pilot event was held during Easter in March with the famous Lesotho trout as the dish of the day. On Sunday the main dish will be the Potjiekos – a traditional African stew prepared outdoors. It will be served with Leqebekoane (home baked bread).
Mr Maps said cooking was his second hobby after music, adding he would partner with “accomplice, Mr Pork Stirfry” to prepare the Potjiekos.
“We have partnered with Ellegado Drive Thru and Kelmo Carwash to host the themed food event starting at midday at the serene Masianokeng village. As a resident of Masianokeng, this is a perfect opportunity to give back to my community as they have always supported me.
“This will create jobs for young people in the community as we will hire them to prepare all the required ingredients and logistics while some will work at the carwash and Ellegado,” he said.
This event will be sponsored by Savanah Loco. DJs Da Starr, Agent K, Charma Xzit, Hobbs and Mr Maps will play a diverse mix of hip hop, deep house, lounge and neo soul music.
