LOCAL events organiser, Moeketsi Manoeli, will from today launch a Playstation FIFA Tournament at Pioneer Mall in tandem with the FIFA World Cup until the global showcase ends on 13 July.
The tournament, Manoeli says, caters for people who are passionate about soccer and also enjoy playing the FIFA Playstation game. Up to 22 gamers are lined up to battle it out in the knock-out tournament until the last man is standing.
“I first organised a tournament of this kind when I was still in Johannesburg when South Africa was hosting the World Cup in 2010,” Manoeli said in an interview with the Weekender on Monday.
“Based on its success, I decided to hold it here at home to to ensure local FIFA gaming enthusiasts feel part of the World Cup.
“We will also be having our final match of the tournament on the day the World Cup final will be played.”
“The knock-out games will take place on weekends before we watch World Cup games that will be broadcast on two big screens at Pioneer Mall,” added Manoeli.
“Those that have not registered for the tournament, can also participate in the soccer fiesta since they will be allowed to play on days we are not having tournament games for a small fee.”
According Manoeli, lot of prizes are in store for the winners courtesy of the outlets at Pioneer Mall.
The top three will be presented with cash prizes and the winner will get a certificate stating that the holder is Lesotho’s 2014 FIFA Playstation Champion.
