MASERU — Beauty pageants organising body, Rajoc, is set to introduce the first-ever Mr Lesotho contest this year, although the exact date is yet to be announced.
Rajoc is well known for hosting a number of female pageants such as Miss Lesotho and Face of Lesotho. The company has opted to add a little flavour to their annual showcase by introducing the first-ever male pageant.
“There are so many male figures out there that wish to be ambassadors and icons but do not get that platform,” said pageant organiser Tlali Tlali in an interview with the Weekender on Monday.
“There used to be pageants for male participants in the past but these seem to have faded away. We are now trying to bring that back.
“The pageant is not merely about having muscles but the contestants should also have a well-structured body. As with the female beauty contests, men are also expected to possess certain qualities that can be appreciated by the community at large,” Tlali added.
Entrants for the pageant should be at least 1.7 metres tall, good-looking and participate in sporting activities. Added to that, they must be non-smokers and non-alcoholics, be fluent in English and be aged between 17 and 25. Rajoc also stipulates that contestants are expected to be humble respectful and not easily lose their temper.
