Easy ties for LDF, Linare

MASERU — Premiership giants LDF and Linare will be looking to finish off the job when they face their first-division challengers, Maseru Naughty Boys and Butha-Buthe Fast XI respectively, in the second leg matches of the Vodacom Soccer Spectacular quarterfinals on Saturday.

Both teams are in good positions after important wins in the first leg matches a fortnight ago.

LDF beat Maseru Naughty Boys 4-1 at Ratjomose and are the best placed of all sides to progress to next weekend’s semi-finals.

Nevertheless Sohle-Sohle’s defensive stalwart Malefetsane Pheko insists LDF won’t have an easy day out on Saturday.

“It’s true that we won 4-1 (in the first leg) but this is a big competition and we want to win it, so we can’t relax,” Pheko told the Lesotho Times yesterday.

“We are not expecting an easy game. They will come at us because they will want to score.

“We are going to attack from the word go, so it will depend on who takes their chances.”

Sohle-Sohle are likely to face a hostile atmosphere at Maqalika.

But Pheko said his side, last year’s beaten finalists, were prepared for anything in their quest for the M360 000 first prize.

“The fields in the lower leagues are not too different from those that we encounter in the Premier League,” he said.

“Everybody is ready so it will just be up to the coach who he chooses.”

In Hlotse, another Premiership side, Linare, will look to book a semi-final berth when they host Butha-Buthe Fast XI.

Tse Tala take a one-goal lead into the second leg thanks to Mabuti Potloane’s strike last time out.

On Sunday, Mafeteng will witness a potentially titanic battle when Bantu host Likhopo.

The two sides are all square after an eventful goalless draw in the first leg.

Also on Sunday, champions Matlama will enjoy a two-goal cushion when they host Mokhotlong LMPS at Central Prison.
