Easter weekend awash with gigs

THE Easter holiday is awash with a lot of activities and they cannot be a better way of spending the holiday for music lovers than attending some of the gigs lined up across the country.

Revellers will be spoilt for choice with the many events lined up, catering for various ages and tastes. Below is your gig guide for the long weekend…

Thursday

Hunter’s Gold Easter Bash
Quthing-based Orange River Hotel will kick off the festivities tonight with the Hunter’s Gold Easter Bash in which revellers will be given a Hunter’s Gold cider, a t-shirt and cap among other prizes upon entering the establishment.

Deejays DeTail, Stoan, Staach and Warrys will be on hand to keep revellers entertained.

Friday

The Hangout
Thetsane’s K Ash Car Wash will host the Hangout party featuring a star-studded line-up of local rappers and deejays such as OG S’Killz, Sadon, Bible Verse, 3RD Code, L Tore, Nirex MIP, Trybz, Osmic, AfroDJ, Hunky D and Edwin among others.

Child of the 80s
4Fordy in Khubetsoana will mark the Easter holiday with a 90s-themed party meant to bring back memories of the bygone era. Entertainment will be provided by the likes of P-Kuttah from the South African group Koolout, Da Starr, Hobbs, Shaixstacy, Saxzo, Ind max, Hitman and The A Supreme among others.

Happy hour party
City centre-based Times Café will host a tequila happy hour party in which revellers would take shots of the beverage after every 60 minutes. The coterie of BoxFr3sh, AfroDj, Trybz, OG S’Killz, Kaly Kome and Snurd are lined up to perform during the show.

Grown Folk Night
Maseru Mall’s Capello restaurant will host an old school party titled “Grown Folk Night”. DJ Tseko is set to play classic tunes such as mid-tempo and the 90’s Hip Hop tracks.

Saturday

Mad About Easter (M.A.E)
Saturday will mark the peak of the Easter holiday entertainment calendar. Johannesburg-based actor Matli Mohapeloa, in partnership with Metro FM anchor, Mo Flava, has organised the Mad About Easter (M.A.E) to be held at Maseru Mall-based Ba.One restaurant. The bash is a sequel to the Mad about December held at the same event last year. It will feature performances from Naak Musiq, Mr Maps and 357Fm deejays.

Magnum Opus mixtape launch
Arts movement, Magnum Opus, will launch its mixtape in style at Uncle Cocks and Chop Bar, formerly known as Litaleng, opposite Lehakoe Club. The launch will also feature performances from local artists such as Cyphic Black, Severe Agony, Fatal Verb, Kot Inferno, OG S’Killz, Preston, Shady Ville, Osmic, Taks and Gru G.

Redcup Neon Switch
Times Café will glow of fluorescent colours when entertainment outfit, Gift Givens Productions, hosts the Red Cup Neon Switch party.

The event is a sequel to the Redcup Hangout outdoor events held last year. Upon arrival, revellers will be given glow sticks for making bracelets or glasses and American original red cups from which they will drink beverages that take their fancy. DJs Trybz, Katz Lee, Smooth, Osmic, Jackie, Baby Lee, NINE24 and Afro-Miks will keep the speakers booming.

Maseru Fun Day
The kids will not be left out of the festivities as Maseru Central Park will host a party catering for the little ones with such activities such as apple contests, egg on spoon race, trampoline, jumping castle, food contest, face painting and bike riding while Mokorotlo star, Stlofa, is set to perform during the event.

Sunday

The Nala Project
Sefikieng Sa Moshoshoe will on Sunday play host to an art, food and cultural social market open to producers of crafts, jewellery, leather works, accessories and clothes.

Monday

Easy Chill Monday
Thetsane’s K Ash Car Wash will wrap up the holiday on Monday with a laid back House event featuring the likes of Hunky D, Razor Da Soul, Zagro Deejays, Takuma Thoxie, Kopper, Sir Schaba, Mr Beekay and Tsiuza among others.
