FRENCH muso, DJ Rocco, brought the house down at Times Café last Saturday, showcasing his outstanding skills in blending deep house tracks.
This was neither the first nor even the second time the Lyon-based disc spinner rocked Maseru, but it seems Basotho cannot get enough of his tunes. The event was a collaboration between Hot Ice and Times Café, and designed to welcome spring in style with some of the best practitioners of House music.
DJ Rocco, real name Sémakdji Mourad, was ably complimented by Hot Ice DJs, Tedozdj and Black Bee.
The Lyon-based DJ Rocco has over two decades in the trade under his belt, playing in some of the largest clubs across Europe. His first release in 2000, entitled Back In Town Again, was a hit in such countries as Germany and made him a household name in his genre.
He has since proved that he was not a one hit wonder with a host of well-received bangers which include Memories, Someday and New Awakening, which remain popular even today.
Tedozdj and Black Bee held it down behind the decks as the opening acts before the French disc spinner’s arrival. They kept on exchanging sets, ensuring the crowd was entertained with the soulful deep House. The long-awaited French deejay only took to the decks in the early hours of Sunday, with the crowd flocking to the edge of the stage. This has become the norm whenever an international act starts performing.
DJ Rocco played some of his popular tracks that always stir up the crowd, while also introducing new material.
Judging by the crowd’s overwhelming response, it won’t be long till we see DJ Rocco in the mountain kingdom again.
