DELIGHT Supermarket, a proudly Basotho-owned business in Khubetsoana, is celebrating its first anniversary of exceptional service to the local community and surrounding areas.
With the actual celebrations slated for 28 November 2024, the store is already running specials as a token of appreciation to its customers who have been supportive in the maiden year.
Since its inception, Delight Supermarket, has been dedicated to meeting the daily needs of villagers by offering an extensive range of groceries at competitive prices.
Operated under the Jabula Group—a collective of Basotho entrepreneurs—the supermarket has stood out for its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
As it celebrates its first year, it exemplifies the power of Basotho entrepreneurship and community collaboration. With a vision for growth and a steadfast commitment to quality, the supermarket is poised to leave a lasting legacy in Lesotho.
The store’s director, Motjopi Molise, attributes their success to maintaining high standards.
“One of our key principles that has kept us ahead is keeping the store neat at all times, as we believe that neatness is next to godliness,” Mr Molise said.
Like any new venture, Delight Supermarket has faced challenges, particularly in maintaining competitive pricing. Fluctuations in supplier costs have been a persistent hurdle.
“It has been very difficult for us to maintain competitive pricing against our competitors due to the suppliers’ struggles to provide products at reasonable prices.”
Despite these obstacles, the team remains optimistic and determined to shift the narrative around Basotho business collaboration.
Delight Supermarket is already setting its sights on expansion, aiming to operate in all 10 districts of Lesotho.
“As we add more years to our existence, we aim to serve Basotho across the country with fresh and clean groceries at their convenience.”
Beyond growth, the supermarket is committed to strengthening the local economy. Each month, it hosts a business expo, giving local producers a platform to showcase their goods. This initiative fosters resilience within the Basotho business community and promotes local entrepreneurship.
Mr Molise expressed heartfelt gratitude for the community’s unwavering support.
“We are thankful to the Basotho people who continue to purchase our products without hesitation,” he said.
He also acknowledged the government for its role in supporting the business, proving that Basotho-owned enterprises can succeed with the right partnerships.
