SOUTH African gospel sansation Trica Selala and Botswana traditional music group Cultural Spears are billed to perform at Masite Ha Mokaoli in Rothe on Saturday.
The show will be Selala’s debut performance in the Mountain Kingdom while Cultural Spears were last in the country in 2012. They will share the stage with local famo artists, Rabotšo Le Semanyane and Mohale oa Lioling.
Selala and Cultural Spears’ manager, Mpho Moriri, told the Weekender from his Johannesburg base that the show was organised following numerous requests by fans who wanted to see the artists performing live.
“Saturday’s show will be Trica’s much anticipated debut performance in Lesotho which was the result of requests by Basotho fans,” said Moriri.
“Judging by the public demand on social media, we are expecting a large audience during the show, and we promise not to disappoint either with an epic performance.”
He said Cultural Spears fans should look forward to new material from the troupe.
“Although Cultural Spears has been in Lesotho before, this time around they will be bringing more energy and new material,” Moriri said.
“Apart from that, they will be sharing the stage with gospel star Trica, so together they will put up a mind-blowing performance. They will be performing songs from the collaborative album they are working on so we are going to dance.”
He said they viewed Lesotho as their “second home” home, adding that they intended to visit as many times as possible.
Culture Spears rose to prominence with their debut album, Korone, in 2005. Their second album, Kulenyane, won the group several accolades including the Botswana Musicians Union awards in 2010 in the Song of the Year and Best Video of the Year categories for the hit track Khulu.
Trica Selala is known for such songs as Tsamaya Leseding, Modimo O Hona, Halelujha and Ose Lahle Tshepo among others.
