MASERU — The 2009/10 cricket season will be concluded next Saturday, the Lesotho Cricket Association has confirmed.
The five-team national championship was scheduled for completion on March 6 with a title-deciding clash between Lerotholi Polytechnic and Ajax Cricket Club.
However, the match was postponed because of Lerotholi’s involvement in last weekend’s inter-college games.
Ajax will be crowned champions if they beat Lerotholi.
The Teyateyaneng-based outfit are tied on 12 points with league leaders Vampires of the National University of Lesotho.
However, Ajax are in second place due to an inferior net run rate.
Lerotholi have 10 points but would remain third in the standings even if they claim all two points with a win on the last day because they have an inferior run rate compared to Vampires and Ajax.
“The match will be played on the 27th of March either at Fokothi or at the Pope’s monument (the old horse racing ground),” the Lesotho Cricket Association’s development officer Lekoatsa Chaka told the Lesotho Times on Monday.
“Lerotholi will decide the venue because they are the hosting team and they use both grounds.”
