Cleketseng, Litsamaiso support vulnerable communities

Hopolang Mokhopi

IN a heartfelt show of unity and compassion, Cleketseng, has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering and uplifting vulnerable populations through its ongoing partnership with the Litsamaiso Foundation.

The collaboration, which began in 2018, continues to inspire hope and foster solidarity among people living on the streets and those in need.

Cleketseng founder, Pusetso Twala, said Litsamaiso’s work was rooted in unity and mutual support.

“Litsamaiso thrives by ensuring that we support one another. Through Cleketseng, we have focused on nurturing local talent, holding each other accountable for good performance, and providing platforms for artists,” Mr Twala said.

He explained that every Sunday, the foundation runs social responsibility programmes, including preparing and serving meals to those in need on the streets of Maseru to demonstrate a commitment to tangible action beyond words.

“Our goal is to see the next person happier. While we may not be able to change the life of everyone, we aim to bring more people into this cycle of care and support, helping them to become future leaders.”

Litsamaiso Foundation founder, Tau Bohloko, said the organisation’s mission is to discourage self-absorption and encourage community-driven assistance.

“Our aim is to help people with basic needs and to foster a culture of helping each other,” Mr Bohloko said.

He acknowledged the challenges they face, particularly the need for counselling services. He noted that many individuals resort to selling donated clothes to buy drugs, underscoring the urgent need for professional help for those battling addiction and trauma.

The foundation is actively seeking such support, stressing that counselling and rehabilitation are crucial for genuine healing.

Supporters have also rallied behind the cause. Thabang Matele from Onstore.Ls expressed pride in working with Litsamaiso.

“This is our first time partnering with their fund, but we’ve been watching and admiring their efforts. We are proud to help show that even when people are lost, they are still loved,” Mr Matele said.

Both Messrs Twala and Bohloko stressed that the initiative’s ultimate goal is to help individuals realise they are not alone in their struggles.

“It is not just about feeding them; it’s about helping them accept their situations and guiding them towards a better future,” Mr Twala said.

The foundation plans to expand its efforts by introducing more structured counselling and emotional support, aiming for lasting and positive change.
