MASERU — South African Christian hip hop artiste Dany Vambili will grace the 2011 Worship Explosion at Manthabiseng Convention Centre on Saturday.
The South African rapper will perform alongside locals Poetry Farm, the Disciples, Identity, Word of Life Impact, CRC Band and Fill the Gap Choolo.
Worship Explosion is an annual Christian gathering held every second weekend of July at Manthabiseng Convention Centre.
It was started in 2006 out of a desire to “see the whole world coming together on one day to worship God”.
One of the organisers of the worship event, Phoka Matete, told the Weekender: “Our mandate with Worship Explosion is to eradicate individuality in Christianity and create togetherness because in Christ we are one.”
This year the annual event will be celebrated under the theme: Unite our hearts — rebuild your temple.
Matete said the event will this year see different elements as compared to all the other years.
“The event has always been an all-day occasion where youths from different churches come together to enjoy the presence of God in worship and praise.”
However this year the event is divided into three sessions.
Matete added: “We are going to have a workshop in the morning where our visitors from South Africa will talk about praise and worship.”
There will also be a discussion under the topic, Reaching out to the music television generation.
In the afternoon there will be a jam session followed by more praise and worship throughout the night.
“The event has always been perceived as a Yadah event because they were the driving force behind the initiative but this year we have a team of young people from different churches who will lead the worship session,” Matete said.
Yadah is a local gospel music group.
Matete said they had also decided invite visitors from South Africa as a way of fostering relations.
“We are going to have for the first time visitors from South Africa to grace the event as participants and audiences,” he said.
