MASERU Mall-based restaurant, Cappello Lesotho, is on Saturday set to host a “80s Madness Party” headlined by Johannesburg-based Motswana disc spinner Oneal Africa.
The coordinator of the event, Malord Mefane, told the Weekender this week that the bash was meant to take people back to a decade synonymous with revelry.
“A lot of people and establishments host throwback events such as the Back to School parties, so we at Cappello decided to celebrate the 1980’s in a classical way,” said Mefane.
“What we intent to do is take people back in time to the days of boom-boxes, metal bands, afro-combs and gelled up hair.
“We have observed that some of the fashions of the 1980’s are trending again nowadays and we want the youths to see where they come from. We also want them to appreciate how stylish people were back then.”
She said they chose Oneal Africa, who is a presenter at SA online radio station Cliff Central, to headline the event because of his huge following and ability to mix Hip Hop, Electro and RnB music.
“Oneal Africa is among a few DJs that can make people dance with his blend of 80s music. In addition to that, he is popular throughout Africa so we decided to invite him for the benefit of local revellers. He will be supported by local deejays Khotso and Thulo behind the booth,” said Mefane.
She added that revelers should come wearing 1980s-themed clothes such as colorful leg warmers, muscle shirts, baggy jeans, dungarees and round sunglasses among others. Admission is M150 before 10 pm and M180 thereafter.
