MASERU — Ster Kinekor cinemas Lesotho intend to reignite the spark in relationships through a cozy movie premiere to be screened on Valentine’s Day.

Valentines Day Movie Mania aims at having couples share that special moment through a romantic movie while being served snacks and wine on the house.

“Watching movies with a partner is said to be very romantic,” said Nthabana Motšoari, Ster Kinekor’s projectionist in an interview with the Weekender on Tuesday.

“The event is open to everyone, but we decided to make it cheaper when people come as a couple because February 14 is marked as a special day for sharing love on the international calendar.

“A person can also bring a parent as his or her dearest; they will still be charged a couple’s price.
“Furthermore, we are trying to lure couples into making the cinema their chill-out spot. I mean, going out with a partner is not all about having lunches and dinners in fancy restaurants together, cinemas can be perfect getaways too.

The movie that has been selected for the occasion is The Best Man Holiday, a romantic comedy-drama by Malcom Lee, a sequel to the 1999 film The Best Man.

This movie, which was released in November last year, is about college friends who re-unite after 15 years and discover that their long-forgotten romances have not actually lost the spark.
“We work on a nine-week movie preview and on the list of the movies we have we found this one to perfectly fit the occasion.

“We recently found out that the rendition of the classic movie Romeo and Juliet was released on the same date as The Best Man Holiday. We have not received it yet but we are hoping to have both movies shown simultaneously on that day.

“We intend to have it this way so that people would have a choice of which movie they prefer,” said Motšoari.
