THE fifth instalment of the annual Corporate Challenge aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle among corporates through various activities is set to be bigger and tougher than before with more challenges for the contestants.

Event organisers, Sky Adventures, have collaborated with marketing and events management outfit, Black Mix Lesotho, to provide participants with a revamped edition of the challenge penciled for Maseru Mall on 25 August.

The Corporate Challenge was first held in 2013 as a team building exercise for different companies.

It breaks the usual office routines and promotes fitness, health and networking opportunities amongst corporates in a relaxed environment. It started as a cycling challenge with participating companies forming teams of five each to cycle around the Maseru Mall.  Other challenges have been added over the years.

Addressing the media at Capello Maseru Mall on Tuesday, Corporate Challenge Event Director Kananelo Masia said that they had “added more obstacles to make it more challenging, with more team effort required”.

Mr Masia said this year’s challenge will include a blind-fold race where four team members would be blind-folded and their shoe laces tied together.

The fifth team member would act as the guide of the group from the starting point to the second point (from Barcelos to KFC).

From there they would be set free and expected to run to the far right entrance of the mall, get back into the yard by jumping over the fence to continue with other normal challenges which include Tyre Chariot, Mudpit, Jungle Gym, Rocks and Tower.

There would be a water and energy drinks point for the first time in the history of the challenge and showers upon completion.

After the Obstacle Course teams can opt to participate in challenges such as Bicycle Polo, Sag Race, Lebili, Boot-Kick and Tug-O-War.

For her part, Black Mix Lesotho Chief Executive Officer, Manisha Black, said that they came on board to ensure that the revamped edition is one to write home about, adding that the closing date for registration is 14 August this year.

“Sky Adventures has partnered with the fastest growing media, brand, marketing and events management company in Lesotho.

“We are enthusiastic about delivering tailored events with emphasis on quality, creativity and attention to detail. Our aim is to bring more value to the event and expand sponsors’ brand participation.

“The event is strictly limited to 100 teams of five members each and so far 80 teams have registered leaving room for only 20 more before the 14 August deadline. We also invite interested participants to test the Obstacle Course on 17 August,” she said.

Speaking on behalf of corporate challenge partners, Metropolitan Health General Manager, Sepinare Lenkoe, said they had always viewed the corporate challenge as part of giving back to their clients.

He added that as part of their golden jubilee celebrations, they are giving back by empowering Basotho in financial wellness and promoting a fun-filled healthy lifestyle events such as the Corporate Challenge.

Meanwhile, Alicia Motṧoane, the CEO of Sentebale Gap Funeral Services and Prestige Furniture, said she was grateful that Sky Adventures had given her the opportunity to give back to the community.

Ms Motṧoane said this was a platform is an opportunity for customers to mingle with Prestige staff in an unformal manner.

“This is a great platform to build our brand by socialising with our clients.

“We want Prestige to grow to a point where everyone knows about it.

“We have branches in Leribe, Maseru and Mafeteng therefore this will be the perfect opportunity for our staff to foster relations outside the office,” she said.

The event is sponsored by Metropolitan Lesotho, Maseru Mall, Nashua, Prestige Furnitures, Sentebale Gap Funeral services, Serati Outdoor Advertising, Specialised Insurance, Lighthouse, DSTV, Jam Sessions, EFS Construction, Mofaya Lesotho, Lesotho Times, Feline Spa, Data Deal, Sunday Express, Ultimate Radio and Office National.
