MASERU Golf Club golfers wrapped up Women’s Month in style with a special celebratory tournament, the Ladies Captain’s Cup, held at Maseru Golf Course over the weekend.
The second edition of the tournament, which was introduced last year, attracted 33 female and 20 male golfers.
Held under the theme, “Empowering Women. Inspiring Excellence. Growing the Game,” the tournament sought to celebrate women’s achievements while encouraging greater participation in golf.
Maseru Golf Club Ladies Captain, Anna Moloi, described the event as a success, saying it had recorded significant growth in both participation and performance.
“We held this year’s tournament during Women’s Month under the theme of empowering women, inspiring excellence and growing the game,” Moloi said.
“Our goal is to create a platform that celebrates and empowers women through golf, while also using the sport to inspire more women and girls to participate.”
Moloi said the tournament was also aimed at building confidence, creating opportunities, supporting the girl child and growing women’s golf in Lesotho.
“Ultimately, I want the Cup to become a meaningful annual platform where we celebrate women’s achievements and use golf to make a positive difference in our communities,” she said.
The pair of Kelello Lerotholi and Mathaleha Molapo emerged victorious after carding 48 points, with the title decided on a count-back.
They finished ahead of Rethabile Liphalana and Lerato Brown, who also scored 48 points.
Lisemelo Ramafikeng and Kudakwashe Mupuro finished third on 45 points.
Molapo was also crowned the overall Lady Winner after scoring 38 points.
The tournament was sponsored by Liberty Life Lesotho, Econet Telecom Lesotho, Standard Lesotho Bank, Specialized Insurance Company, Vodacom Lesotho, Ernest Moloi, Yijin Chen, Fraud Shield Forensics and Coca-Cola Beverages Africa.
