IN a significant step towards accelerating digital transformation in Lesotho, DNS Technologies Ltd, in collaboration with Computer Business Solutions (CBS), recently hosted a three-day executive technology workshop in Maseru focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI), cloud computing, cybersecurity, backup disaster recovery and managed services.
The workshop brought together decision-makers, IT leaders and professionals from leading institutions in the education, healthcare, construction, manufacturing, communications and the government sectors. The initiative aimed to provide practical insights into how modern technologies are reshaping operational resilience, digital security and business innovation across Africa.
The event was supported by international technology partners including Palo Alto Networks, Softlabs Group, BelCloud and Keepit, each contributing expertise in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, cloud infrastructure and SaaS data protection.
Speaking during the workshop, DNS Technologies official responsible for Africa business expansion, Jack Bismohun, said the event focused on real-world challenges currently faced by organisations across the region, including ransomware attacks, cloud security risks, data loss, operational downtime, legacy infrastructure and the growing impact of AI on business operations.
“The workshop forms part of a broader regional effort by DNS Technologies and CBS to strengthen digital readiness and cybersecurity awareness in Southern Africa while helping organisations modernise their IT infrastructure in an increasingly connected world,” Mr Bismohun said.
Throughout the three days, participants attended strategic presentations, live demonstrations, interactive discussions and solution showcases covering key areas such as artificial intelligence and intelligent automation, cloud migration and scalable infrastructure, cybersecurity resilience and threat prevention, as well as data backup, business continuity and disaster recovery.
Cybersecurity emerged as one of the workshop’s central themes, with experts discussing the increasing sophistication of cyber threats targeting organisations globally. Sessions led by Palo Alto Networks highlighted the importance of proactive security approaches, AI-driven threat detection, cloud-native protection and unified cybersecurity platforms capable of protecting modern enterprises.
Keepit presented strategies for immutable SaaS backups and business continuity, emphasising the importance of protecting critical Microsoft 365 and cloud-based data against accidental deletion, insider threats and ransomware incidents.
BelCloud showcased cloud hosting and infrastructure solutions designed to provide organisations with secure, scalable and compliant cloud environments, particularly relevant for institutions seeking improved reliability, sovereignty and operational agility.
Softlabs Group introduced discussions on Agentic AI, intelligent business automation and the future role of AI-powered systems in improving productivity, customer service and organisational decision-making.
DNS Technologies founder and chief executive, Pravin Swami, said digital transformation was no longer optional for organisations seeking to remain competitive, resilient and secure.
“Technology is evolving rapidly, and organisations across Africa must prepare themselves not only for innovation, but also for the cybersecurity and operational challenges that come with it. This workshop was designed to bridge knowledge gaps and empower institutions with practical, enterprise-level solutions,” Mr Swami said.
He added that the collaboration between DNS Technologies and CBS highlighted the growing importance of regional partnerships in driving technological advancement across Africa.
“With CBS being one of Lesotho’s longstanding technology providers offering IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, managed services and digital transformation solutions, the partnership created a strong platform for knowledge sharing and industry engagement,” he said.
Speaking after the conference, CBS Manager Corporate Marketing, Molemo Pefole, described the event as an important milestone in strengthening Lesotho’s digital transformation journey.
“We are encouraged by the positive response and participation from our clients and technology partners during this conference. The objective was not only to showcase world-class technology solutions, but also to create a platform for meaningful engagement around the future of digital transformation in Lesotho.
“Through our collaboration with DNS Technologies and global vendors, we are able to bring internationally recognised technologies and expertise closer to local organisations. We believe these engagements are critical in helping businesses and institutions navigate the rapidly evolving digital landscape,” Mr Pefole said.
He said CBS remained committed to empowering organisations in Lesotho through innovative technology solutions, knowledge-sharing initiatives and strong client partnerships.
Participants from both the public and private sectors welcomed the initiative, particularly its practical focus on resilience, cybersecurity preparedness and sustainable digital transformation.
The education and healthcare sectors showed strong interest in cloud-based collaboration platforms, secure infrastructure and disaster recovery capabilities, while manufacturing and construction organisations explored opportunities around automation, operational efficiency and secure connectivity.
The government stakeholders also participated in discussions on digital governance, infrastructure modernisation, secure data management and future-ready public sector services.
The workshop reinforced Lesotho’s growing momentum towards digital innovation and aligns with broader national efforts to strengthen digital infrastructure, technology awareness and cybersecurity readiness.
As cyber threats continue to evolve and organisations increasingly adopt cloud and AI technologies, initiatives such as the DNS Technologies and CBS workshop are expected to play a critical role in equipping institutions with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the future digital landscape confidently.
