TELECOMMUNICATIONS giant, Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL) is showcasing its latest innovations in digital technologies at the second edition of the Econet Digital Expo. The four-day event, at Maseru Mall, began on Tuesday and concludes tomorrow.

The expo underscores Econet’s evolution into a leader in digital services, highlighting how its cutting-edge solutions are transforming enterprises, homes, and individual services. This effort further solidifies the company’s leadership in Lesotho’s digital economy.

Speaking at the expo launch on Tuesday, ETL General Manager – Sales and Services, Lebohang Ramaisa, said they aim to showcase innovative solutions tailored to various sectors and market needs.

Mr Ramaisa explained that the technologies on display include solutions for business-to-business (B2B), business-to-consumer (B2C), and the fintech space.

“Regarding solutions for small, micro, and medium enterprises (SMMEs), we can all agree that as more Basotho businesses adopt these technologies, they will not only improve internal operations but also contribute positively to the national economy,” Mr Ramaisa said.

“In summary, by adopting the technologies and solutions we are showcasing, Basotho businesses will realize increased productivity and efficiency, streamlining their processes,” he added.

Mr Ramaisa underscored ETL’s commitment to embracing the digital revolution, saying they were dedicated to driving the digital economy.

“I have seen firsthand through Econet that new jobs, particularly 21st-century roles, are being created. As we explore the stalls, we will witness innovations such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).”

He also expressed gratitude to the management of Maseru Mall for hosting the event.

“On Friday, we will host captains of industry, government officials, and our partners. We invite everyone to engage with them, as we aim to shape the future of our country’s economy,” Mr Ramaisa said.

While highlighting the benefits of new technologies, Mr Ramaisa acknowledged the growing threat of cyberattacks but reassured attendees that solutions were in place to mitigate such risks.

ETL’s Manager of Public Relations and Customer Experience, Puleng Masoabi, echoed these sentiments, noting that the world is shifting towards a digital economy and ETL wascommitted to contributing to this transformation.

“This is the second edition of our digital expo, and we have different stalls open to the public because we are in a digital era. Hosting this expo is our way of embracing that,” Ms Masoabi said.
