MASERU — The Morija Museum and Archives board on Friday awarded certificates of appreciation to sponsors of the Morija Arts and Cultural Festival which took place last month.
Speaking at the ceremony the festival’s director, Thabo Leanya, said the certificates were in recognition of the critical role played by the sponsors over the years.
“This is a token of appreciation to sponsors and partners who contributed towards the success of the festival over the years but particularly during the 2011 edition,” Leanya said.
“We all know it takes a huge number of stakeholders to execute a project of the magnitude of the festival but only a portion of supporters will receive certificates.”
He said there were plans “to see how best we can extend awards to other partners in the future”.
“The board of Morija Museum and Archives also noted that it was important to formally recognise the dedication and hard work of the festival’s management team which is composed of volunteers and museum staff and to re-inspire their
confidence for the future,” Leanya said.
The sponsors were given associate, silver and platinum awards in line with their contribution.
David Hall, who died last year, was also honoured for his pioneering role in setting up the festival 12 years ago.
Econet Telecom Lesotho official, Mosuoe Mapetla, thanked the coordinators for recognising their input into the festival.
Econet Telecom Lesotho was awarded a certificate in the platinum category.
“It is with great joy that we receive this honour for the support that we have rendered towards the festival. This will motivate us to continue associating ourselves with the festival,” Mapetla said.
“The festival is a national initiative that helps Basotho know their ancestry and culture. Everyone needs to take pride in promoting and supporting an event of this nature,” he said.
