MASERU — Lioli Football Club have issued a hands-off warning to Likhopo after they stepped up their interest in key striker Sello ‘Muso last week, the Lesotho Times has learnt.
Bishop Molatoli’s side last week indicated that they were still keen to recruit the Likuena international to boost their team.
Joy have also expressed interest in ‘Muso and had their bid for the striker rejected earlier this year.
Speaking in an interview with the Lesotho Times last week Likhopo manager, Qamako Mahao, said his side wanted to engage ‘Muso, a product of the famed Likhopo academy.
However, Lioli communications and marketing manager Moeketsi Pitso was quick to rubbish the talk on Monday.
“Scalo (‘Muso) is still a Lioli player and he is not going to any other team. He has signed a contract with Lioli,” Pitso said.
‘Muso was said to be open to a move to Likhopo earlier in the year after he was shunned by Lioli for four months.
The Nthane Brothers Holdings Independence Cup champions are plotting to at least break into the top-four after having had to settle for a lowly eighth-position last season and Pitso was adamant ‘Muso would stay put to help Tse Nala achieve their goal.
“He is training with the team and next season he will be there to help the team with his goals,” Pitso said.
Recently hired Lioli coach Retšelisitsoe Lephaila has also stressed the need for the team to keep all their star players, especially with the competition in the market posed by big-spending Bantu.
‘Muso has had his run-ins with the Lioli management though.
He was transfer-listed in November along with Mohapi Ntobo, Brown Makobe and Baholo Sefatsa for alleged bad behaviour.
Ntobo and Makobe joined Bantu in January while Sefatsa has since left the club.
The talented ‘Muso was only brought back into the Lioli team in late March and almost single-handedly saved the team from the embarrassment of relegation.

against LMPS, Bantu and Lerotholi in the decisive final three matches of the season.
