MASERU — South Africa’s DJ Sbu is set to invade Roma tomorrow in a bid to appease his fans following a show to forget two weeks ago.
DJ Sbu left hundreds of fans disappointed a fortnight ago when he arrived late for a show at Bambata Tsita Sports Arena.
He only arrived at the venue at 5.30am, more than nine hours after his show was scheduled to kick off.
But this time DJ Sbu will be back at Roma to appease his hordes of fans.
The show, which is being dubbed Vandal Invades Roma party, will see the popular South African DJ not being paid for his services.
DJ Sbu is set to perform along his South African vocalist Zakes Bantwini.
Bantwini is expected to spice up the show by performing his hit singles Shake your bum bum and Clap your hands.
Local DJs Thabie, Pozinno, Karma K and Macs are also scheduled to turn the tables at this event.
Trevor Madondo, DJ Sbu’s Vandal Authentic Wear clothing label partner, told the Weekender DJ Sbu is not going to disappoint revellers again.
“We don’t have any event lined-up on Friday and Saturday so we will be in Maseru during the day,” Madondo said.
“We will be doing radio interviews during the day to assure fans we will be available for the comeback party and we will not be late,” he said.
He said DJ Sbu arrived late during the first show because of unforeseen circumstances.
“We had a funeral in our stable so we found ourselves travelling during the wee hours of the morning just to pitch up for the show but failed to arrive on time.
“The line-up is different from that of the last party to prove we are bringing something fresh.
“We asked Lesotho fans on Facebook to tell us which celebrity and artist they would want to see during the show. This line-up is in response to what they,” Madondo said.
He said the event is a “payback” for the disappointment that was caused by the first show.
Meanwhile, Sekeele Monese, from DJ Sbu’s promotional team in Lesotho said they are running a competition to create hype for the show.
“We will be having a competition on Facebook where 10 people will win a breakfast date with Zakes Bantwini and DJ Sbu. The breakfast will be at one of the local Sun International Hotels on Saturday morning,” Monese said.
“The event is a comeback show because of the disappointment that was caused during the first show. He (DJ Sbu) is the only artist who is not going to be paid for performing,” he said.
Monese said they would have loved to hold a free show for fans to compensate for the disappointment two weeks ago.
“We have some logistics that need to be catered for so we will be having a cover charge of M40 before the event and M50 at the gate,” Monese said.
The gate takings for both parties in Maseru will be used to cater for expenses and to set-up a budget for social projects.
“Vandal is more than just hosting parties but events are an element we chose to penetrate the market and win people’s trust.
“We will be using the gate takings to set-up a budget for different projects,” Monese said.
“We have 1 000 tickets being sold now but the demand is so high we will have another bulk coming in this week,” he said.
