THIRTY-FIVE students have graduated with certificates and diplomas from the Centre for Accounting Studies (CAS).

The graduates completed courses offered by professional bodies such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and the Chartered Institute of Management Accounts.

Speaking at the centre’s recent 43rd graduation ceremony at ‘Manthabiseng Convention Centre, CAS rector, Neo Phakoana-Foulo, congratulated the graduates and wished them well.

“No matter your chosen path, I encourage you to recognise the tremendous significance of your achievement in making the transition from CAS student to CAS graduate,” Ms Phakoana-Foulo said.

She reminded them that few occasions held as much pride and significance for them and those who supported them along the way like their convocation day. Graduations were also a time to imagine the future, she said.

“Some of you have an answer to the question ‘But now what; a job enroute to what will be a fulfilling career in the private sector, public or non-profit sectors, the first steps of profession, and an entrepreneurial pursuit.”

The hallmarks of CAS graduates were many, but most importantly, they included self-discipline, resourcefulness, and the ability to finish what they started despite the challenges encountered, Ms Phakoana-Foulo said.

“My message to you is the same irrespective of what pursuits you undertake, follow your passion even though the path may seem circuitous. Work hard, have fun, remain sharply aware of inevitable and perpetual changes in the world and the new opportunities they create.”

She encouraged the graduates to be confident as they begin a new stage in their lives.

They should also make a difference like their predecessors by using their knowledge and skills, she said.
