MASERU — Lorenzo has released his fourth album which he says is his last as an independent artist.
The 23-year-old muso told the Weekender he had inked a deal with a “reputable” South African recording company which he was not at liberty to name.
His new album, The Exclusive, follows Who Says, Teddy Bear and Ladies Song which were released between 1998 and 2005.
“This album is my last as an independent musician,” the Rn’B musician said.
“All my new albums will be released under a South African recording company that I cannot disclose at the moment.”
Lorenzo, born Lereng Mosoang, said he hoped his recording deal would see his music penetrating new markets in South Africa and elsewhere.
“My decision to join a recording company is for professional purposes and getting a wider market,” he said.
“I believe recording companies can handle all the lines involved in the production of music from recording to marketing professionally.”
The Exclusive, available on both CD and DVD, contains tracks in both English and Sesotho.
“I started as an artist expressing himself in the English language,” Lorenzo said.
“I realised then that I was losing the Sesotho-speaking fans so I decided to use both languages to communicate with my fans.
“I had also lost my identity as a Mosotho musician so I want to revive my music into the type of music that caters for both English and Sesotho speakers.”
Lorenzo described his latest release as a “feel-good” album.
“This album is an exciting dancehall album. It is meant to make people dance,” he said.
“It encourages pride in all individuals.”
The tracks Tsotsi, Up all Night, Song 4 November and Ikemele are likely to be hits.
