GOSPEL sensation Lebo Sekgobela will be one of the main acts at the second annual Home Coming Festival at ‘Manthabiseng Convention Centre on 26 October 2019.
She is expected to share the stage with artistes like Tehillah Africah, Semito, Holly Rey, Selimo Thabane, Juvy, Baff Junior, Mavele, Cura, Mosh, Kingdom Classics, DJs Alex, Bootz, Thizozo, Napolinah, TshepzaDj, Pablo, Kopper and Gama among others.
The Home Coming Festival is a brainchild of two local entertainment companies, Scorpio Knight and Jam Session Sounds.
Organiser of festival and Scorpio Knight director, Sekonyela Matamane, said they decided to bring Lebo Sekgobela after listening to the demands of the market.
He said they have also partnered with local gospel giants, Tehillah Africah, who will be launching their Live DVD for their latest project Tehillah Africa Volume 3.
Sekonyela said the concert is aimed at celebrating family adding that the event would embrace cultural evolution, diversity and inclusivity. He said the event is modelled around a family and would ably cater for different age groups including children.
“We want patrons of different ages to come and dance away from home,” Sekonyela said.
He said they realised that in recent years, families hardly spend time together at music festivals and so they identified the Independence Holiday of October as one of the times for families to unite.
Sekonyela said although the festival is still in its infancy, they anticipate some improvements compared to the 2018 edition.
Last year’s edition was marred by different challenges among them harsh weather conditions.
“We have set the event right at the end of October when we know it will be warm. It’s already warm now and we hope the trend continues until the end of October.”
He said they have reduced the ticket prices to ensure that tickets are affordable to different classes.
“Times are tough for all. However, we have opted not to let this dream die. Rather, we believe that we have strength in numbers and so we have elected to make it a people’s function,” he said.
He said the collaboration with Jam Sessions Lesotho was necessitated by the need for local entrepreneurs to unite and enhance value for their markets.
