ECONET Premier League top goal scorer Lebajoa Mosehlenyane says he is heartbroken that he has been ruled out of Likuena’s crucial 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Cape Verde next month due to injury.

The Matlama forward was a late addition to the Likuena squad that was announced by coach Moses Maliehe late in January but his dream of finally making his Likuena debut will not come true at least for now after he was ruled out for a month with a tibia fracture.

Mosehlenyane, with nine goals in the league so far, was a surprise omission in the initial squad announced by the Likuena coach but was finally called up before he suffered the injury.

“Everything has been going on well until the injury but then it’s all part of the game,” Mosehlenyane told this publication.

“I was very happy when I was called up. I never panicked when I was not part of the initial squad because I knew that my time would come.

“After all, the coach had made it public in newspapers that the door was still open for players who are performing well at club level.”

Mosehlenyane, who is in his second season with Matlama having joined from Bantu at the end of the 2017/18 first round, indicated that he continued to work hard on his game to impress the Likuena technical team.

“Of course, it’s heart breaking for me because at club level we are fighting for the league and I had just earned a call-up to the national team.

“It was disappointing to suffer the injury and to learn that I will be out of action for a month but its part of the game. There is nothing I can do.

“I’m confident that the injury will heal soon I may even come back before a month. I will continue to work at the gym to help the recovery process and hopefully I will get my chance again with the national team.”

The speedy winger, who leads the goal scoring charts with nine goals stated that he is enjoying his football at Tse Putsoa because his teammates understand his playing style.

He has already tasted success since his arrival at Tse Putsoa having played a crucial role for the club when it lifted the LNIG Top8 under Mosito Matela last season. He also expressed confidence that his team will win the 2018/19 Econet Premier League title.

“I have been enjoying my game at Matlama because I was well received from day one and I also had teammates who believed in my abilities. That made things easy for me to get going.

“I have been working hard to keep improving as a player and I think we have a very good team to go all the way and win the league. We have experience and a huge pool of players to do the job even in my absence.

“I’m confident that we will win the race in the end. The hunger is there to sustain us to the end,” Mosehlenyane said.
