METROPOLITAN Health Lesotho and Trackers Lesotho have partnered to launch the Senohecare emergency medical service product to assist Basotho whenever they are involved in accidents locally and three other regional countries including South Africa.
The product, which was launched this week in Maseru, will enable the two companies to deliver proactive roadside emergency assistance to a client within an hour of an accident.
Senohecare will also cover Basotho in the event of accidents in South Africa, Botswana and Mozambique. The service will soon be extended to Swaziland.
Speaking at the Tuesday launch, Metropolitan Health Lesotho General Manager (GM) Sepinari Lenkoe said the unique product testified to the two companies’ commitment to the well-being of their clients.
Mr Lenkoe said the product notified Tracker Lesotho of the exact location of the accident.
“As the name Senohe (loosely translated to mean ‘predictor’) suggests this service predicts the severity of an accident,” Mr Lenkoe said.
He said Tracker Lesotho immediately forwarded to Metropolitan Health Lesotho all the information it picked up concerning an accident and this was done to ensure that emergency medical services were expedited to the accident scene.
He added that unlike other medical products, this service did not wait for the client to call.
Rather they called the client to enquire of their health.
“We do not wait for a client to report the accident; once Tracker Lesotho notifies us of an accident, we call our client to enquire about their wellbeing,” he said.
Mr Lenkoe said that the product was very important because in the event of severe accidents, victims could not call for help.
He also said that unlike other Metropolitan policies, the first priority of Senohecare was to save the lives of whoever was involved in an accident of the insured car, not just the policy holder.
He added that Metropolitan Health were in a position to alert hospitals of incoming accident survivors.
For his part, Tracker Lesotho Managing Director, Lisema Masheane said they couldn’t have asked for a better insurance partner for the innovative than Metropolitan who have served Basotho for more than 50 years.
“We are proud to have collaborated with Metropolitan on this ground breaking innovation to save lives.” Mr Masheane said, adding that Senohecare was a game changer.
