MAJANTJA joined Sefotha-fotha as the two clubs that won promotion into the Vodacom Premier League from the southern and northern A division streams respectively.
Majantja who won two premier league titles in 1971 and 1995, make a comeback to the top flight after many years in the lower division.
They beat Mangau 1-0 on Saturday to secure the single automatic spot in the Southern Stream ahead of Mazenod Swallows who finished three points behind.
On the other hand, Sefotha-fotha were promoted with a few games to spare and they will play in the premier league for the very first time after losing out on promotion on the last day of the previous campaign.
Majantja legend Lekoane ‘Computer’ Lekoane who was a member of the 1995 title-winning side, said he was proud to be on the technical bench that helped the Mohale’s Hoek outfit win promotion.
“I’m very proud that we helped the team gain promotion back to the premier in just our first season as the technical team,” said the former Likuena star who subsequently played for South African giants Kaizer Chiefs and Bloemfontein Celtic.
“I also came here to learn hence I even accepted a role as an assistant coach working with people that did not have a big profile like me as far as football is concerned.
“That harmony among us as the technical team played a big part in helping the team become a success story this season.”
Lekoane also paid tribute to the players who worked hard to see off competition from the likes of Swallows and Van Rooyen in the promotion battle.
“The players were massive all season and this is why in our recent meeting with management I suggested that we keep all of them even if we add experienced campaigners.
“We promise Majantja supporters that the team is in the premier league to stay and we will be a very competitive side,” he said.
For his part, Sefotha-fotha coach Tiisetso Molete said they were happy with their success after years of knocking on the door of promotion.
“We have been knocking on the door for a number of years and losing out at the last hurdle.
“But this time we succeeded and credit goes to the players who kept their feet on the ground to make it happen.
“It all came about as a result of their dedication and hard work as well as the support from the management,” he said.
Molete said they would have to be prepare for a new challenge in the premier league by adding experienced personnel to their playing and technical staff.
