MUSIC lovers and revelers are in for an entertainment treat from the stellar cast of local and South African acts that are slated to perform at Saturday’s launch of the newly-formed Alliance for Democrats (AD) party at Masowe in Maseru.
South African stars A-Reece, NaaqMusiq, SdudlaNoma100, DJ SK and IngaHina will share the stage with local acts that include Majisto, Selimo”Lakabane” Thabana, Rabotso le Semanyane, Vesta, Afrodj, Monyase DJ, Heart Breakers, Sentso, Matlakeng, Teboho oa Machache, Sebili, and DJ Tseko with MCs being Cura, Mavele and Rethabile Hlalele.
The South Africans whose music cuts across the Hip Hop, Urban Kwaito and House genres are no strangers to the country where they made their mark. This week social media has been buzzing over their return which will be free for aficionados this time around.
AD Youth League General Secretary, Chafotsa Letuka said the AD was cognisant of the needs of the younger generation and entertainment would feature prominently in all their rallies.
“The youth are not entertained by the way political parties structure their rallies, where there will be long speeches but they prefer entertainment,” Letuka said, adding, “We decided to structure our launch in a way that would make them feel part of it by bringing their favourite local and international acts to entertain them”.
Letuka said the party was keen to assist in developing local talent and therefore it was important for local acts to share the stage with their international counterparts so that they could learn from them.
“Our local lineup is not about the political affiliation of each artiste but we are only looking at the talent Basotho youth possess. It is high time we forgot about political affiliation and focus on building our nation by developing the entertainment sector,” he said.
Formed last month, the AD is led by former cabinet minister Monyane Moleleki who led a breakaway from the Democratic Congress (DC) led by Prime Minister Pakalitha Mosisili. Mr Moleleki was DC deputy leader.
