Man kills wife over food portions

 

A 31-yearold Sekhutlong, Ketane man is in custody awaiting trial for allegedly murdering his 25-year old wife after a dispute over food portions.

According to police deputy spokesperson, Senior Inspector Lerato Motseki, the incident occurred on 7 September 2016 around midnight.

She said the suspect allegedly drew a knife and fatally stabbed his wife who was the sole breadwinner in the family.

Senior Inspector Motseki said the couple had earlier that day fought over food portions, with the suspect allegedly accusing his wife of serving more food to their children than him.

The suspect also allegedly accused the deceased of engaging in an extra-marital affair.

She said the wife had previously reported the matter to the area chief and that the suspect had been continually hurling insults at her.
