No bid has yet been made for midfielder Tšoanelo Koetle despite his stellar performance for Lesotho during last month’s Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) tournament.

The Lioli playmaker was impressive during the regional tournament held in Rustenburg, South Africa, although Lesotho failed to make it past the first stage of the championship after losing two and wining one match in the group stage.

Named man-of-the-match in the 1-2 loss to Swaziland and 1-0 win over Tanzania, the 25-year-old midfielder became the subject of debate and praise by fans and pundits alike, and it appeared only a matter of time before he was approached for his services by South African clubs.

However, no such offer has been forthcoming, according to Lioli president, Lebohang Thotanyana.

“There has been no official approach from any team outside the country  for the player. All I know is that there have been some team officials  phoning him, but not us, as a club.

“But we will wait for them to phone, if they are interested in him, that is,” Thotanyana said.

“We always act in the best interest of our players and if a good offer comes, we will not stand in his way to further his career.

“Our role, as a club, is supporting our players to grow and were very happy to see one of our own doing so well and winning individual trophies at the Cosafa tournament.

“But like I said, we will have to wait and see if there is any team that will make an official bid for the player,” he said.
