NEWLY-CROWNED Vodacom Premier League champions, Bantu, have lined-up a host of activities to celebrate a successful 2013/14 season which saw the team clinch the coveted double — the league title and Independence Cup.
Club spokesperson Bokang Phasumane said the team will parade the two trophies across their hometown of Mafeteng on Saturday and celebrating with their loyal fans.

“We are giving everyone a chance to celebrate with the players after a long and very successful campaign, which saw us ending our 87-year drought for the Premier League title,” he said.
Phasumane also said on May 31, the club will hold an awards ceremony to honour outstanding individuals within the club.

“I have to say this year, the awards ceremony and the other celebrations, will be bigger because it is the year the team managed to end the long wait for the biggest trophy in the land.
“Those to be honoured on the day are Player of the Season, Players’ Player of the Season, and Most Improved Player of the Season.”

Striker Tsebang Lebata is also set to receive the Top Goal-Scorer award, just a season after joining the club from Liphakoe.
The talented forward, who has been a surprise omission from the national team currently taking part in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations campaign, scored 13 league goals during the 2013/14 season.
“It is a very big year for the club and we will also be holding our annual gala-dinner on the first weekend of June at Maseru Sun Cabanas, as part of the club’s strategy to raise funds.
“We will wrap-up the activities with an Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 15.
‘This is the end of our term as an executive, and we have to present our various reports before we step down from our positions,” he said, adding individual members would be announcing whether or not they are going to seek re-election.
“It is important that we thank all the stakeholders because without them, the club would never have achieved anything.
“It was a successful campaign that will go down in the history books as the year the club finally won the league title since it was established in 1927.
“Considering the success that we enjoyed, it is only fair that we celebrate the season in style.”
