MASERU — Former Premier League champions LCS have hauled two of their star-players — goalkeeper Kholuoe Phasumane and Katleho Lethabela — before a disciplinary committee for indiscipline.
According to the club’s communications and marketing manager, Kofa Ntai, the players found themselves in hot water for failing to attend training sessions and “other disciplinary issues”.
Kofa also told this paper that the two players are not training with the rest of the
squad until a decision has been taken on their fate.
Star-midfielder Ralekoti Mokhahlane was also recently punished by the club for indiscipline, leading to a four-month suspension, which only saw him returning to action in Saturday’s 0-1 loss to LMPS.
“We will never allow ill-discipline within the team and every player who goes against the club’s regulations will face the music,” Ntai said, further stressing no player is bigger than the club.
He announced that they will have an independent body to handle the case of the players and a date is yet to be set for their hearing.
“We are an institute that is governed by rules and regulations, and everyone within the team should respect them.”
Ntai also said a lot is expected from the two players, especially Phasumane who is a national team player.
The stocky goalkeeper was the first choice for Likuena when Lesotho reached the semi-finals of the Cosafa Cup tournament in Zambia last year.
“Even Mokhahlane has admitted that he was wrong and has learned from his mistakes as one of the senior players in the team,” said Kofa.
Ntai also told the Lesotho Times there could be a major clear-out of players at the end of the season.
“Of course, we are not having our best season, but there has been an improvement in recent weeks and we are confident of a strong finish to this year’s campaign,” he said.
Ntai revealed the team’s technical team led by coach Katiso Mojakhomo, was already scouting for players to beef-up the squad for next season.
Masheshena, as LCS are popularly known, currently occupy 8th position on the 14-team table.
