ANKARA – Ivory Coast internationals Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Eboue have been cleared of any wrongdoing by the Turkish Football Association.
The duo, who ply their trade for Galatasaray, were in trouble after they paid homage to the late Nelson Mandela after a recent soccer match.
Drogba and Eboue unveiled personal messages on their vests underneath their kit after a league match as tribute to Madiba.
Drogba’s message read “Thank you Madiba” while Eboue’s message read “Rest in Peace Nelson Mandela.”
The Turkish Football Association threatened to discipline Drogba and Eboue but attracted international criticism.
Following a hearing on Monday, the Disciplinary Committee opted to drop all charges.
