MASERU — Lesotho National Volleyball team coach, Tšepo Letooane, is confident his charges will grab a spot in next year’s Federation of International Volleyball (FIVB) World Cup to be staged in Netherlands.
Letoane told this paper his team is in good shape ahead of leaving the country for the Zone VI qualifiers taking place in Botswana.
“We have done our homework and the players have shown a lot of commitment to do well in the qualifiers,” Letooane said.
“The spirits are high and I am expecting them to do well.”
He said their preparations went well, but they faced financial constraints and injury woes to some of the key players.
“My only worry is that we did not get a chance to play a friendly match before leaving the country,” said Letooane.
Moholo Lekemola and Teboho Maqekoane were nursing injuries prior to the trip to Botswana.
Shelile Letuka on the other hand withdrew from the team due to school commitments.
Team vice captain, Lebohang Ntlhanngoe, said the country should expect good results as they want to continue where they left off in June during the Zone VI sub-zonal qualifiers held in Mozambique.
“We started this journey earlier this year at the sub-zonal qualifications in Mozambique where we managed to qualify for this crucial stage of the tournament,” Ntlhanngoe said.
“We will keep on fighting and fly the country’s flag high,” he said.
