MASERU — Fifty-one Basotho have been nominated for the inaugural induction into the Lesotho Hall of Fame.
The induction ceremony is set for Saturday in Maseru.
Vodacom Lesotho came up with the idea of a hall of fame to honour individuals who have contributed positively to the wellbeing of the country in various aspects.
The nominated individuals fall into the art, music, literature, social development, sports, education and achievers categories.
“The awards are an idea born after Vodacom realised there are people worth to be honoured for their contribution and efforts in the growth of our country,” Ketsia Mat’sela, the Hall of Fame coordinator, told the Weekender.
“These are the legends that have left a legacy which Basotho can look back at with pride today.”
“The awards are not annual,” Mat’sela added.
“They will come after a long time because our criteria of selection require nominees to have been contributing to the country’s development for more than 15 years.”
