COMEDIAN Lilaphalapha is set to feature in this month’s edition of Gags and Music which is set for Wednesday at Cuban Linx.
Gags and Music is a comedy show held every last Wednesday of the month at the Cuban Linx giving a platform for little known comedians.
The line-up will also have Masapo, Skaftin, Six-gun, Leotoana and guest comedian and musician Piyet from Bloemfontein.
Speaking to the Weekender, comedian and founder of the show Skaftin, born Jeremiah Lebea, said the show would also be in celebration of the last day of the women’s month which is commemorated every August.
He said three women at the show stand a chance to win gift cards from Perfect Beauty Spa on the day.
“We promised to do comedy differently and this week we are inviting ladies to come and have a good time and stand a chance to win gifts,” Skaftin said.
Skaftin said they were excited to feature Lilaphalapha for the first time on the show although he has previously attended gigs which featured David Kau, Kagiso and other South African comedians.
“It is a pleasure that for a change we are hosting Lilaphalapha on our show,” he said.
He Lilaphalapha’s performance is a chance for upcoming comedians to learn how to handle audiences.
“In many cases people do not take comedy seriously and do not see it as a career. Some attend the show to distract performances and sometimes cause unnecessary commotion but because we know what we want to achieve, we will not back down,” Skaftin said.
The ticket for the show has been pegged at M50 and Skaftin said they are working flat-out to ensure that audiences have the time of their lives. He said they have also enlisted DJs such as Nkoanyane Pitso and Funky Luciano to also the audience on the night.
“Our aim is to bring a sense of relaxation to people as they go through a lot throughout the month so they must come and listen to good music laugh off,” Skaftin said.
