World Vision Lesotho has donated medical supplies worth M377 951 to the Ministry of Health to uplift the health sector and prevent diseases among communities.

The medical equipment comprising 900 boxes of medical gowns worth M167 652, seven beds costing M189 089, as well as seven gazebos at M21 210, will come in handy for Queen ‘Mamohato Memorial Hospital (QMMH) and two other health facilities supported by World Vision in the Matelile and Rothe regions.

The three health facilities will share the donated equipment under an initiative to improve healthcare accessibility and quality in World Vision-supported areas. World Vision Lesotho is an organisation invested in enhancing the lives of vulnerable children and communities in Lesotho.

Addressing a handover gathering at QMMH on Tuesday this week, National Director of World Vision, James Nkemba

“We strive to enhance access to quality maternal, neonatal, child health and nutrition services,” Mr Chifwelu said.

He also said World Vision’s strategic objective included preventing infectious diseases among children and vulnerable populations, while also empowering local communities to “coordinate health activities for improved healthcare and services”.

Mr Chifwelu further stressed that their partnership with the Ministry of Health was to uplift the standard of healthcare throughout the country.

“We stand united with the ministry of health in our shared goal of ensuring a healthier and more prosperous future for the people of Lesotho,” Mr Chifwelu said.

The General Director: Health Services, for the Ministry of Health, Dr Nyane Letsie, also spoke about the importance of the donation during Tuesday’s handover ceremony.

“We are very excited to have acquired such equipment as it will come in handy during our ongoing village outreach drive,” Dr Letsie said.
