STADIUM Area legislator, ‘Mampho Tjabane, has reaffirmed her commitment to her constituency.
She vowed that “unlike” her predecessors, she would keep the promises she made during the 2022 general election campaign.
Ms Tjabane won the constituency under the ruling Revolution For Prosperity (RFP) banner.
She held a gathering at Pitso Ground in Maseru on Saturday where she reassured her constituents that the RFP would honour the commitments it had made to the country.
She said the RFP had promised to develop and transform the country. A year down the line, the ruling party had already achieved a lot in the Stadium Area constituency, she claimed.
The gathering was also used as a platform for Stadium Area entrepreneurs to exhibit their products.
“We made many promises during the election campaign and we cannot come to you only when we want your votes. We have the mandate to report to you, which is the purpose of today’s gathering.
“We promised that our government will be different from past governments because we want to grow our economy in a true sense.
“We said we are going to develop and transform the country and there are many achievements in our constituency already. Among others, we have street lights that have been erected, roads that are being rehabilitated and students that have received school bursaries and grants.”
She said they were also fighting crime in the area.
“Our office has received 15 Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cases, including rape of children and in one case a four-year old was raped but perpetrators were successfully apprehended,” Ms Tjabane said.
Ms Tjabane has established the Mokhosi oa ‘Ma Ngoana (a mother’s cry) organisation that stand against substance abuse and another one called Wellness Warriors, which is a youth group that strives for the well-being of the youths in the constituency.
For his part, Minister of Social Development, Gender and Youth, Pitso Lesaoana, who was a guest of honour, lauded Ms Tjabane for the initiatives directed at developing the constituency.
Mr Lesaoana said the government was committed to supporting youth projects to create jobs and reduce poverty and hunger.
