The national volleyball league campaign comes to an end this weekend at Lehakoe Club in Maseru.

Redskins won the male category of the tournament last year, while LDF clinched the female edition, but according to the Lesotho Volleyball Association (LVA) Public Relations Officer, Letsatsi Ntsibolane, predicating the winners this time around would not be easy. However, Ntsibolane believes Redskins might have the edge to take the honours in both categories.

“The fourth round of our league starts on Friday and ends the following day at Lehakoe Club, and this is when the champions for this year are going to be decided.

“Redskins look favourites for both the male and female titles, as they have dominated the previous rounds of the championship.

“However, having said this, we are still expecting fierce competition from our teams in both categories as we have a lot of good sides such as Green Spikes, LDF and Mahlaseli,” said Ntsibolane, adding the tournament is being sponsored by Metropolitan Lesotho who signed a three-year deal with LVA in 2013.

“Our partnership with Metropolitan, which we signed in 2013, ends next year. The total sponsorship was M120 000, which is M40 000 each year. I should also indicate that this time the games will take place indoors at Lehakoe Club unlike in previous occasions where they were outdoors.

“The awards ceremony is supposed to take place at the end of the tournament where the prizes would be disbursed.”

Meanwhile, Ntsibolane said Redskins and LDF would represent the country in the 2014 African Volleyball Club Championship set for Mozambique in December, in honour of their wins last season.
