THE Lesotho College of Education (LCE) and Vodacom Lesotho Foundation will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today, marking a significant partnership aimed at enhancing Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills for Lesotho’s teachers.

The hub will provide a platform for pre-service and in-service teachers to develop their ICT skills, enabling them to effectively utilize digital technology in the classroom.

The purpose of the MOU is to provide support and sponsorship to the college for the establishment of the central training hub.

The MOU between LCE and Vodacom Lesotho Foundation will outline the terms of their partnership.

An MOU is a formal agreement between two or more parties outlining the terms and conditions of their partnership.

It is often used to establish a framework for collaboration, setting out the roles and responsibilities of each party, as well as the goals and objectives of the partnership.

According to Vodacom Lesotho Public Relations and Corporate Communications Manager, Lebohang Chefa, the partnership will enable the college to leverage the telecom giant’s expertise in ICT, to equip teachers with the necessary skills to effectively integrate digital technology into their teaching practices.

“This partnership is a significant step forward in our efforts to support education in Lesotho,” Mr Chefa said.

“We believe that ICT has the potential to revolutionize the way we learn and teach, and we are committed to supporting LCE in its efforts to equip teachers with the skills they need to achieve that.

“The training hub will provide a range of services and resources to support teacher development, including training sessions, workshops, and online courses.

“It will also provide teachers with access to state-of-the-art technology and equipment, enabling them to gain hands-on experience with digital tools and platforms.”

By providing teachers with the necessary ICT skills, the partnership aims to improve the quality of education in Lesotho.

Teachers will be better equipped to design engaging and interactive lessons, and students will have access to a more comprehensive and effective education.

The benefits of this partnership extends beyond the classroom as well.

By equipping teachers with ICT skills, students will be better prepared for success in an increasingly digital world, Mr Chefa noted. This will enable them to compete effectively in the job market, and help to drive economic growth and development in Lesotho.

The signing of the MOU marks a significant milestone in the partnership between Vodacom Lesotho Foundation and LCE, demonstrating the company’s commitment to investing in the education sector and empowering young people with 21st-century skills, he said.

“We are proud to be partnering with LCE on this important initiative,” Mr Chefa said.

“We believe that education is key to unlocking human potential, and we are committed to supporting LCE in its efforts to provide high-quality education to students in Lesotho.”

According to Mr Chefa, the partnership between Vodacom Lesotho Foundation and LCE is expected to have a positive impact on the education sector in Lesotho. It would help to improve teacher training and development, enhance student learning outcomes, and promote economic growth and development, he added.

In conclusion, the MOU between Vodacom Lesotho Foundation and LCE is a significant step forward in promoting education and ICT development in Lesotho.

Mr Chefa noted that the partnership would enable teachers to develop their ICT skills, improving student learning outcomes and promoting economic growth. “As we move forward, we look forward to seeing the progress made as a result of this collaboration,” he said.
