Morija Museum, in collaboration with Renaissance Café and BAM Promotions, will host Unsung Heroes an event meant to honour inspirational people in various spheres on Saturday at Renaissance Coffee and Café at Pioneer Mall, Maseru from 4pm till 9pm.

“Unsung Heroes is a celebratory event, held for the second year running, where we invite the public to join us in acknowledging the people who have helped transform and enrich our lives through their nurturing, kindness and guidance,” said the event organiser, Lineo Segoete.
“It is also the first leg in a series of build-up events towards the Morija Arts and Cultural Festival 2014.
“It is dubbed Unsung Heroes because everyone has his or her own personal hero regardless of how inferior or superior the person may be, so everyone needs that platform to celebrate that someone who has had a positive impact on his or her life.”
“Apart from that,” she added, “Heroes Day, now called Africa Day celebrated on May 25, is a day set aside to honour African heroes.”
“We will express our gratitude through art virtues such as harmony, unity and qualities that encourage ordinary people to do their part in effecting positive world change,” she said.

It will be a day of live music, bongo drums and poetry in honour of individual personal heroes.
The first edition of Unsung Heroes was held last year at Ouh la la Café and saw a number of local artistes, from stage performers to painters, celebrating their heroes together with the general public.

The public are also expected to attend the event in commemoration of Africa Day, supporting local talent and enjoying creative art works.

The event will also pay tribute to the unrecognised efforts made to advance the cause of humanity with the aim to motivate others to do the same continuously all year-round.

It is also intended to help preserve the heritage of the Basotho people who always have a sense of gratitude.
The main acts this year will include a young recording and performance collective from the National University of Lesotho called INI (Imagine and Inspire), a contemporary jazz band, Major 7, which comprises of vibrant individuals from around Maseru and live bongo drum played by Kabaka, Zhazha and Cecilia, an African consciousness collective.
