TO mark the milestone of eight years on air, Ultimate FM will tomorrow visit three children’s homes before their birthday bash on Saturday.

Ultimate FM has been operational for close to a decade and during that time it has become one of the leading youth stations in the country.
“We are a radio station keen on addressing issues affecting the youth of Lesotho,” said Ultimate FM’s acting station manager, Mabatho Lithebe. “As part of our celebrations of the eight years we have been serving them, we decided to give a little to destitute children
“The needy children also constitute part of our listenership, so it is only befitting that we remember them as we celebrate, whilst also performing part of our social responsibility.
“Most people, when celebrating, tend to forget there are those people who cannot even afford a meal in a given day. So we are trying to show those children that we do think of them.”

Lithebe further mentioned that since it is winter the children’s homes have more needs to take care of. She also said two companies have promised to chip in with donations to take to the selected homes.
“We have been promised school shoes and clothes by Pep Stores while Lesotho Flour Mills has also promised to give a helping hand by donating groceries. We also have some old but well-kept clothes that we collected from the listeners which we will also be giving out.
“We do not know much about which homes are struggling most and to avoid biasness, we asked the listeners to vote for the orphanages that they think are more deserving of the donations,” she said.
The fortunate children’s homes which came out in the top three of the votes are Ministry of Hope, Good Sheppard and Maseru Children’s Home.

Ultimate FM will then have a birthday fiesta at Ya Rona, Masianokeng, on Saturday as part of the celebrations where the youth of Lesotho who are listeners of the station are expected to celebrate with the station.
They will interact and have an awesome time with their presenters and get to know them personally. A number of local artists like MIP, Stlofa, Malekapore, Lebo, Skebz-D, Slayer, Chocolate Soul, Protagon, Kislev, Atomic Wolf and Jiji F will give out their best against Botswana’s KBoss, Samantha Mogowe and Kebo Leburu. The event will go down from 2pm till the very late hours.
