MASERU — Popular Lesedi FM’s Seipati “Twasa” Seoke held her birthday celebration at Newtown Jazz and Grill last Friday.

South African Twasa who plays local music during her show, Rea Kubeletsa and has a great listenership of Basotho, said she did it for her fans.

“This is just a celebration of solid music that features the best of what the local scene has to offer.

“Most of Lesotho’s artistes are old friends of mine whom I have been playing music with since 2001 so it was only fitting that they become part of event.

“The community here has done nothing but show me love, they call in during my show and express their gratitude. The atmosphere in Lesotho is that of optimism and I am celebrating the undying, ever rising spirit of a proud society.”

The line-up comprised Twasa’s friends such as Boots, DJ Tseko, Counter Force and from South Africa, the famous twins Revolution, DJ Finzo (Lesedi FM music compiler), and Miza of the song Feelings who features on Streets of Mangaung (SABC1).

’M’e Puseletso Seema is one of those who fanned the love of traditional music in Twasa.

Seema defied gender prejudices in the music genre and has made the voice of women heard. Her fighting spirit represents what Twasa has had to fight for, the voices of women (especially Basotho) to be heard on radio and TV.

Just as Twasa used to rock Morija Arts and Cultural Festival in previous years, with her energy, she hopes to revive that spirit with this event, especially at a time when Lesotho is on the rise in the arts.

Twasa has been entertaining Lesedi FM’s listeners for the past 13 years and wishes to continue with her good work.
