MASERU — When the clock strikes five on Sunday, the kingdom will be closer to knowing where the Premier League crown is heading.
The three-headed monster that is the premiership race will take another twist this weekend.
Much is riding on Lioli.
After LDF assistant coach Motheo Mohapi’s rumblings last week it is Lioli’s turn to play twice in two days.
And they couldn’t be more different affairs.
On Saturday Lioli make the trip to Sekamaneng to face bottom side Young Stars, a team that hasn’t won at home all season.
Then on Sunday they face a do-or-die clash with table-toppers LDF who are unbeaten at home this term.
Lioli, eight points behind LDF, have to win both games to have any hope of winning the league.
Sunday’s clash is vitally important. It is a classic clash of styles — Lioli’s brash attacking style against LDF’s miserly defence.
LDF have rarely looked genuinely impressive during their run of 17 wins in 19 games, but they have collected the points which leave them seven points away from winning the title.
The last time the two sides met it ended in a 1-1 draw. A similar result won’t be good enough for Lioli.
Defending champions LCS will be hoping for a Lioli win to give them a chance of retaining the league.
They travel to Hlotse to face Linare on Saturday knowing only a win will do.
