MICRO lender, Thusong Financial Services (TFS), has launched a campaign aimed at promoting financial literacy and inclusion among Basotho.

Titled ‘Show Me the Money’, the campaign kicked off on 1 November and will run for three months until 31 January 2025.

The initiative focuses on improving lives, educating the public about financial literacy, and giving back to the community.

TFS has allocated M150,000 for the campaign which will also encourage responsible spending during the festive season, when impulsive spending is common.

The campaign features weekly winners, receiving M5,000 in cash prizes, trolley dashes, and hampers, with the grand prize of M30,000 going to the ultimate winner at the end of the campaign. The grand prize winner will also receive an additional M10,000 to be donated to an orphanage of their choice as part of TFS’s corporate social investment (CSI).

Speaking at a press conference this week, TFS Head of Sales, Seeng Nchai,  said the initiative was part of the company’s broader efforts to promote financial inclusion and literacy.

She said the campaign aime to support clients during the holiday season and the back-to-school period, while also promoting responsible financial behaviour, educating the public on financial literacy, and encouraging loan consolidation.

“We are a credit-only financial institution, founded in 2011, and as we celebrate our 13th anniversary, we remain committed to improving the socio-economic lives of our clients by offering convenient, affordable, and hassle-free loans paired with exceptional customer service,” Ms Nchai said.

She said the campaign sought to educate the public on the importance of financial management, adding that loans should be used responsibly.

Ms Nchai said TFS’s goal was to improve the lives of Basotho.

“We are a trusted local partner, fully owned by Basotho. We are committed to helping you improve your lives. We lend to civil servants from M500 up to M350,000, which supports our vision of financial inclusion. We also offer loan consolidation services.”

As part of TFS’s corporate responsibility, Ms Nchai said the campaign will reward clients from Maseru, Hlotse, Mafeteng, Qacha’s Nek, and Thaba Tseka, areas where the company operates.
