MAFETENG — Veteran coach Ntebele Taole has joined Bantu as technical adviser.
Bantu’s communication and marketing manager, Bokang Phasumane, told the Lesotho Times that they had engaged Taole because of his expertise.
“Taole is now the technical adviser of Bantu. He is going to assist and work with the coaches that are already here at the club,” Phasumane said.
“We saw his huge expertise. He won the Vodacom Soccer Spectacular and the league with Matlama.”
Taole’s move to A Matšo Matebele is another sign of the club’s ambitions to snatch the Vodacom Premier League title this year after a 16-year trophy drought.
Tata, as Taole is affectionately known, famously led Matlama to the league and cup double in the 2009/10 season.
Phasumane said: “Bantu has a team full of international players and we believe his experience will help us get the best out of our players.”
Phasumane insisted Taole was only there to assist the current coaching team of head coach Tšehla Lerotholi and assistant Mosito Matela.
With expectations in Mafeteng raised, there have been rumours of pressure piling on Lerotholi especially after Bantu’s 1-0 loss at home to Maduma two weekends ago.
But this was rubbished by Phasumane.
“He is not under pressure; no Bantu coach has left the team. They will all be working hand in hand,” he said.
On Sunday Bantu reaffirmed their title credentials with an impressive 2-0 over Matlama at LCS Central Prison ground.
Having invested heavily over the past three years Bantu have declared their ambition to win the league crown this season.
This will be tested when they host the only unbeaten side in the league, LDF, at Bantu Stadium on Saturday.
LDF are top of the Vodacom Premier League with 10 points after three wins from their opening four fixtures.
