TOURISM and marketing company, T-Connexion recently donated 20 pairs of schools shoes to 20 orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in Leribe.
T-Connexion Managing Director Thabo Maretlane this week told the Lesotho Times that they had identified the OVCs who needed assistance towards the end of last month after consulting teachers and councilors in the district.
Mr Maretlane said they opted to donate shoes after realising some of the children could not afford school shoes while some went to school in torn shoes.
“This year we donated pairs of shoes to OVCs at two schools in Leribe, namely Villacruks and Mmate Primary Schools as part of our social responsibility programme,” Mr Maretlane said, adding, “The children have no one to turn to and we believe it is right that we help those in need where we can”.
For her part, Ha-Mmate community councilor Ms Mathapelo Lotho commended the company for their generosity in assisting less privileged members of the community.
“We are really grateful for their support because not many people are generous enough to help OVCs in the area,” Ms Lotho said.
She also appealed to Basotho to “always remember that in our communities we have people and children who are vulnerable and their donations would certainly go a long way in improving lives”.
