MASERU — Movie fan, Mothiane Kopo, walked away M1 000 richer on Friday for joining Ster-Kinekor’s social network fan page.
Kopo, 20, was given the surprise gift after he became the
1 000th person to join the cinema’s Facebook fan page on Tuesday night.
Ster-Kinekor marketing manager, Seisa Tšiame, told the Lesotho Times the money was just a token of appreciation to one of their supporters.
“We started operating last year and to monitor our popularity we decided to join social network, Facebook, and create a fan page.”
“When we got to one thousand members we decided to reward one of our fans. We chose the thousandth person to join and reward him with M1 000 because we are celebrating a thousand achievements,” Tšiame said.
He said there are still more prizes to be won that are in the pipeline.
“We are not only looking at the social networks but at other fans as well.
“We are currently running campaigns to give out tickets on radio.”
Tšiame said they were working at introducing loyalty customer cards to monitor active fans who come to the cinema to watch movies.
“We want to be able to track all of our supporters so we are working on loyalty customer cards for those who are active in watching movies,” he said.
The most loyal ones will then be given free tickets.
Kopo, who was shocked when he received the cash, told the Lesotho Times he would give the money to his mother.
“I am speechless. I am generally not a very lucky person. I am very happy, this is just too good to be true, I am humbled,” he said.
He advised people to join social networks to be informed.
